45432 + 72006 Just a fortnight before this line closed 3 returning troop trains from Woodburn to Stranraer were booked taking reservists back to Northern Ireland after 2 weeks weapon training in wild west Northumberland. They were booked for class 6 power and Kingmoor managed to find 3 Clans to take over from the diesels which had worked the trains to Carlisle. They had only managed 2 when the trains ran a fortnight earlier, having had to resort to a Jubillee for one of them. Dumfries had to provide assistance for the climb to Lochanhead and 2 black 5s were used-one doing 2 trips. The road runs alongside the line here and I had already taken one lower down the bank and had overtaken the trains for second shots which certainly amused the crews. No-one else was there.
